CNPO echoes voice against Chakpi Dam

Chandel Naga People's organization (CNPO) echoed the opposition against the construction of Multipurpose project dam at Chakpi River in Chandel district.
In a press statement signed by its General Secretary BD.
Betha, CNPO showed strong opposition to the proposed construction of the Multipurpose dam and expressed support to the rally which was jointly organized by Anal Apex Body, Anal Naga Chief Association, Anal Women Union, Anal Students' Union and other frontal organization on 11/10/2012 at Chandel district head quarters.
CNPO contended that the construction of the dam is total denial of the right rights of democratic citizen of Chandel people and warned the state government to understand the pulse of the electorate populace.
It said, the government is govern with the electoral voters and the government should understand the desires of the people as well as the reluctant towards the ideology of the government and as it is the only key to bring up peace tranquility, stability, progress, development, well administration and prevailing atmosphere in the country within the states and even in the district instead of inviting bloodshed.
The CNPO statement further added that the government should consult and communicate with the local people before taking up any programme in the region.
Terming the decision as not a wise one the CNPO said, "It is force decision to threaten and suppress the right of Minority and also to discriminate indigenous tribal people" .
The CNPO further urged the government of Manipur to withdraw the decision for construction of the multipurpose dam at Chakpi River in the interest of the general public.
