Council of Teachers� Association (COTA) today announced that teachers of government schools will go on cease work strike effective from tomorrow in protest against the non-implementation of the revised sixth pay bands.
Addressing a press conference held at COTA office, Keishampat, its convener Ch Shantakumar alleged that even though state government has agreed to the implementation of the sixth pay bands of the Central government to its employees in toto, teachers are yet to enjoy the same till date.
He recalled that following a prolonged cease work strike of the employees, government had agreed to implement the sixth pay commission around six months back.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in this regard.
Government had also agreed to pay backlog arrears of six months in the signing of the memorandum.
Bur six months have passed since the agreement was signed and the government is yet to translate it into work and teachers of the government schools are yet to enjoy sixth pay bands, he said.
The convener recalled that COTA had many a time drawn the attention of the government to translate the agreement into work by issuing intimations.
They even served an ultimatum to the government with a deadline of October 31.But so far there has been no response which has compelled the teachers to go on cease work strike from tomorrow.
Mention may be made that COTA had already started a campaign of their stir from October 30 after it had announced to launch the cease work strike.
