Triple murder case: Fate of Ningshen to be known on Jan 18

Come January 18, the fate of Hopeson Ningshen, a self-styled lieutenant colonel of NSCN-IM involved in the triple murder case of Dr Thingnam Kishan Singh, the then SDO of Kasom Khullen, and his two subordinate staffs after abducting them from near the office of Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul in 2009 will be finally known after a three-year long trial.
The verdict of the sensational case that evoked widespread protest will be pronounced on January 18 by the Special CBI Court.
The CBI registered a case in connection with the triple murder of Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) of Kasom Khullen, Ukhrul district Dr Thingnam Kishan Singh and his two subordinate staffs, namely Yumnam Token, a Revenue Mandal, and driver Aribam Rajen Singh after the case was handed over to the investigating agency on January 31, 2010 by the State Government.
The final hearing and argument of the case has completed recently in the Special CBI Court after a three-year long trial.
SDO Dr Kishan and his subordinate staffs were abducted by NSCN (IM) from near the office of Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul at Ukhrul district quarters on February 13, 2009 and they were found hacked to death at Taphou Kuki village in Senapati district along National Highway-2 (Imphal-Dimapur road) on February 17, 2009 .
"We hope Hopson Ningshen will get harsher punishment for the brutal killing case," said the joint action committee (JAC) formed against the killing of Dr Kishan, Token and Rajen on Monday.
Terming the killing as a terrorist act, the JAC in a press statement said it has convened a public meeting on January 15 at Mapari Ningshingkol, Uripok Machin to take a firm decision ahead of the pronouncement of the judgment.
It appealed to all senior citizens, activists, academicians, legal professionals, civil societies, administrators, student bodies, club organizations, and press/media to attend the above meeting.
