Around 87 per cent of the total 6206 households of Thangmeiband AC will be eligible to get the benefits under National Food Security Act.
This was stated by the MLA of the Constituency, Kh Joykishan in a press conference held at his residence today.
The first meeting of the District Committee of the National Food Security Act was held on January 2 with PHED Minister I Hemochandra in the chair.
All the MLAs, Municipality Chairperson and Pradhans are the members of the committee, he said.
Saying that the meeting discussed the matter of issuing application forms for the selection of beneficiaries, the MLA said that the meeting resolved that the domicile, income and undertaking certificates be countersigned by the respective MLAs.
Maintaining that the scheme is meant for every citizen of the country, Joykishan said that the meeting also resolved to avoid political interference.
Thangmeiband AC has 877 AAY card holders, 1340 BPL card holders and 863 APL card holders, he said and added that around 87 per cent of the total 6206 households would be the beneficiaries of the scheme.
A Sub-Committee would also be formed in which Members and Councillors would be the members, he said and added that only the elected representatives would be the members of the committee.
The MLA also greeted the people of Kabui community on the occasion of Gaan-Ngai.
