Imphal, December 06 2011:
With the state government allegedly not fulfilling its commitments, the Jiribam District Demand Committee (JDDC) is likely to relaunch its agitation, including economic blockades any time.
JDDC had signed a MoU with the government following which it had temporarily lifted its agitation.
Addressing media persons at Jiribam yesterday, M Maipaksana, Convenor, JDDC said that the committee had demanded conversion of Jiribam into a full fledged district and in pursuance had launched various agitations along with the different CSOs in the valley.
But the JDDC had temporarily suspended its agitation after signing a MoU with the state government on November 9 .
Among the 11 points in which the government and the JDDC had agreed upon, the conversion of Jiribam into a full fledged district after the submission of the report of the Committee on Re-organisation of Administrative and Police Boundaries (CRAPB) was one of them.
But there has been no positive response from the government so far.
Jiribam should be declared as a full fledged district at the earliest possible time, he demanded.
The JDDC and the government also agreed that all required posts in Jiribam Aided College would be created but no steps have been taken in this regard.
Moreover, not upgrading the Jiribam Borobekra Revenue Circle into a Revenue sub-Division by posting a SDPO in the area is a clear provocation to relaunch agitation once again, he said.
