Imphal, December 06 2011:
Taking strong exception to the Government's failure to fulfil even minor demands of the Sadar Hills Districthood Demand Committee (SHDDC) which was agreed upon as per the MoU signed with the State Government, a meeting of the SHDDC was held today at Kangpokpi.
The meeting deliberated on possible reasons for the Government's failure to fulfil even the minor demands.
SHDDC secretary Tonghen Kipgen questioned if the Government has any hidden agenda behind the move of bringing the police station newly established at Maphou under Saikul sub-division under Imphal East district.
He further questioned the Chief Minister's oft-repeated statement that the Government would not do anything which would create more problems in order to solve one problem.
Though the Government of Manipur cannot solve the Naga problem, it should have the capacity to fulfil the SHDDC's demand, Tonghen asserted.
The meeting resolved to launch mobilisation campaigns throughout Sadar Hills area and seek people's opinion on whether they should put faith on the incumbent Government.
After holding consultative meetings of SHDDC sub-committees, another meeting would be held on December 16 .
The December 16 meeting would decide whether or not the suspended agitation would be resumed, Tonghen conveyed.
