Imphal, December 06 2011:
The Senapati District Students' Association (SDSA) and Senapati District Women's Association (SDWA) have expressed strong resentment and condemned the assault of five innocent youths by Senapati Police on December 4, evening at Moses workshop on NH-2 .
Such irresponsible act of the people's guardian like police organization is unfortunate.
The incident has seriously injured 5 innocent youths who earn their living as drivers/mechanics in a workshop near NH-2, said a statement.
The victims were gun-butted, slapped, kicked, lathi charged and mentally harassed by the suspected drunk policemen.
All of them are hospitalized in the District Hospital.
An FIR has been lodged against the reckless policemen by parents of the injured victims.
The SDSA has also submitted a complaint letter to the authority concerned yesterday to suspend all the responsible officers and the policemen involved in the incident within 3 days.
Failing to address the demand, the SDSA will be compelled initiate any form of public agitation/demonstration against the Police establishment in Senapati headquarters.
The two organizations also strongly condemned the forceful and unreasonable arrest of Major Johnson (NSCN/GPRN) of Huthrong Brigade by 5 Assam Rifles personals led by Major Akshay Yadava, post commander on December 5 .
The unarmed NSCN cadre was whisked away for no reasons known to the people from the middle of the Senapati town and taken to Imphal.
It is regrettable that, the Indian forces especially the Assam Rifles posted in Senapati continue to create unwanted tensions disturbing the prevailing peaceful environment.
Such provocative behaviors of the 5 AR have been repeatedly executed since past years, attempting to sabotage the sanity of the District.
They demanded immediate release of Johnson.
