Imphal, May 30 2014 :
Two days after two missing cadres of URF were found murdered and buried their bodies, mother of another cadre belonging to KCP-Nongdrenkhomba, which is also a signatory to the suspension of operation (SoO) agreement with the State and Central Governments, today called upon Manipur Government to determine the whereabouts of her missing son.
Laiphrakpam Gophen alias Roshan, then 30, a resident of Langthabal Phuramakhong Nambul Mapal in Imphal West district was thought to be in the camp of 46 Assam Rifles, Churachandpur district, but his exact whereabouts remained a mystery since January 1, 2010, his mother told media at Manipur Press Club here today.
Laiphrakpam Memcha, mother of the missing cadre, said Gophen joined the proscribed RPF/PLA about six years back, but he was arrested by police several times and sent to jail four times.
While in jail, Gophen met Nongdrenkhomba and later joined the KCP faction led by the latter.
But they surrendered to the Government and since 2010; Gophen was thought to be in the camp of 46 Assam Rifles at Churachandpur along with the rest of the surrendered cadres.
However, communication between Gophen and his family stopped after January 1 this year.
On May 2 last, a team of Imphal West Police commandos came to Langthabal Phuramakhong and asked for him from Ward Member Angom Jayenta, according to Memcha.
Memcha then went to Singjamei Police Station the following day and lodged a missing complaint of her son.
But news of murdering Gophen by KCP-Nondrenkhomba group on January 4 last reached his family.
He was reportedly beaten to death by some of his own colleagues and later buried his body in Mission Compound, Churachandpur on January 5 .
The authority concerned then went to the spot and dug the ground where the body was Gophen was suspected to be buried.
But only some strands of hair were found there and nothing else.
Memcha warned that she would launch intense protest by joining hands with various social organisations in the event of Government's failure to determine the whereabouts of his son
within one week.
