MLA to reward fully vaccinated villages

Saikul MLA Yamthong Haokip on Tuesday launched a mobile/out-reach COVID vaccination programme to boost the inoculation drive in Saikul assembly constituency.
The launch event was attended by SDO Saikul, SDO Lhungtin, SDO Island, MO in-charge of CHC Saikul, PHC Maphou, OC Saikul and leaders of Kuki Inpi Saikul Gamkai, KSO Saikul, KWU Saikul, Kuki Inpi Phailengmoul, KSO Phailengmoul, KSO Bung-pi, YUWA, Saikul Hill Town Committee, Konghom Area Chief Association, Satang Area Chief Association and Mapao Area Union.
During the launch event held at E Mulam village, more than 65 beneficiaries were vaccinated with Covishield.
MLA Yamthong in an effort to increase vaccination rate in Saikul AC announced a cash reward of Rs 40,000 for first fully vaccinated village, Rs 20,000 for second fully vaccinated village and Rs 10,000 for third fully vaccinated village.
With an aim to motivate all the cluster-wise COVID Task Force and coordinator CSOs in respect of their defined roles and responsibilities particularly in the vaccination drive, the local MLA also assured of giving the best performing CTFs cash rewards to the tune of Rs 10,000 to Rs 30,000 .
In a joint meeting with Saikul AC COVID Awareness cum Joint Enforcement Committee and the CSOs under Saikul, the MLA encouraged the CSOs to continue to perform their COVID related activities like mass testing, containment measures, vaccination, arrangement of village isolation centre in collaboration with department officials and A/C COVID Awareness-cum-Enforcement Committee.
While appreciating the active participation of the CSOs in the fight against the pandemic, he appealed to the civil organisations to keep up the good work.
Yamthong also informed that 17 COVID Task Force teams under Saikul AC have been approved by the deputy commissioner of Kang-pokpi and each cluster-wise COVID Task Force will need to work under the guidance of the CSOs, which will serve as the co-ordinator to the cluster-wise CTF.
The MLA then instructed the SDO and MO in-charge to arrange an orientation session for all the members of CTF and the CSOs concerned within three days.
Yamthong also asked the department concerned to work in tandem with the local CSOs and all the 17 Cluster Wise COVID Task Force teams in all COVID related activities like ad-vocacy/awareness & COVID vaccination, mass testing, containment measures, home isolation management, etc.
Medical officer in-charge of CHC Saikul, Dr John Lupheng briefed the CSOs leaders on the roles and responsibilities of a co-ordinator to the cluster-wise COVID Task Force.
Representative of the CSOs also highlighted the need for increased advocacy/awareness programme on vaccination in all the three blocks of Saikul AC to boost the vaccination rate in the assembly segment.
Among many others, it was also decided to set up village isolation centre in all villages under Saikul A/C to accommodate asymptomatic/mild symptomatic COVID cases and to entrust the BHQ Cluster CTF and CSOs Saikul to decide on lockdown extension.
