Imphal, November 17 2012:
The Kuki State Demand Committee (KSDC) has started its 'public blockade' since 5 this evening as scheduled.
It is likely to intensify its agitation from Monday.
Talking to Newmai News Network tonight, KSDC secretary Benjamin Mate said till Sunday evening the 'public blockade' will be imposed and if no positive response comes forth from the government of India the committee will intensify its agitation.
When asked what mode of intensification is to be initiated, Benjamin Mate said that 'curfew' is one of them that will be imposed in Kuki areas.
Meanwhile, KSDC information secretary George Guite said that volunteers of the Committee are now stationed in all the "junctions" in Kuki areas imposing the public blockade.
"We will intensify the agitation by clamping curfew or imposing total bandh," stated George Guite.
Following the blockade, all the transports have come to a grinding halt since late this afternoon.
The vehicular moments in both the national highways leading to Manipur have stopped, so are those in all the state highways.
