Trade Unions call Manipur bandh on February 28

Imphal, February 16 2012:
The Coordinating Body of Trade Unions, Manipur (CBTU) has called a 12-hour bandh from 6 am of February 28 to protest over 'indifferent attitude' of the State and Central Governments to the sufferings of the people.
All the labourers and employees of banks, insurance companies, State and Central Governments offices, airport, transport, railway offices would stay away from their normal works and all the passenger vehicles, rickshaws would remain off the roads, markets would shut down and all the casual, master roll and contract workers including workers in un-organized sector would participate in mass picketing during the bandh, CBTU, a conglomerate body of seven trade unions-AITUC, CITU, UTUC, TUCC, INTUUC, BMS and HMS, announced in a statement today.
CBTU has also urged the UPA Government at the Centre and State government to implement various demands including to mete out severe punishment to corrupt officials, to bring back the black money stashed away in foreign countries, to regularize the labourers who are working under the Central -sponsored flagship programmes and pay them regular wages and honorarium, to remove Armed Forces Special Powers Act, 1958, to complete repairing works on National Highways within this year and to set up Highway Protection Force, to pay unemployment allowance to unemployed youths of the State and establish industries which can provide jobs, etc.
