Imphal, December 14 2011:
Cracking its whip on the striking employees of Manipur Secretariat Services belonging to the Manipur Secretariat Services Association, the state government has applied dies-non against 658 employees with effect from December 13 .
The Secretariat, General Administration Department has issued an order in this connection today.
Signed by Under Secretary S Lokendra Sharma, the order noted that the employees of the Manipur Secretariat Services belonging to the Manipur Secretariat Services Association (MSSA) have once again gone on an indefinite cease work strike with effect from December 13 .
Earlier, when the Secretariat employees resorted to similar cease work strike during February 18 to March 5, 2008, the government of Manipur via its order no.16/6/97-GAD (Pt) dated 29th Feb, 2008 had applied dies-non, for which no salary and allowances were admissible to a total number of 658 employees of Manipur Secretariat Services.
However, on the request made by the General Secretary of MSSA on May 3, 2008 to revoke the dies-non order imposed during the said cease work strike period, the state government after due consideration withdrew the dies-non subject to the condition that in the event of further strike by MSSA, the dies-non shall stand automatically revived.
Since the striking employees of the Manipur Secretariat Services have violated the condition specified in the cancellation of dies-non issued in 2008 by resuming cease work from December 13, the earlier order has been revived and the period from February 2 to March 5, 2008 shall be treated as dies non for those employees who are now on cease work strike with effect from December 13, the order declared.
