Imphal, December 14 2011:
Commerce and Industries Minister Y Erabot has conceded that his frequent criticism against the SPF coalition only testify that the Government is yet to deliver justice to the people's mandate.
Speaking at the release of a book entitled 'Freedom from India: A History of Manipur Nationalism (1947-2000)' written by Malem Ningthouja at Manipur Press Club today, he explained that criticism against the Government also indicate that there is still room for improvement for the Govt.Continuing his tirade against the Govt, Erabot opined that the plan to shift the Tuberculosis and Leprosy hospital from Lei-Ingkhol near Chingmeirong to Irilbung merits objection for such a proposal would only add to the inconveniences of both the patients and patient-parties due to distant location of the said facility.
He suggested that the treatment centre for TB and leprosy should remain at such a place which could be easily accessed from the city while construction of Government buildings could have been carried out at a farther place.
While terming continuous imposition of AFSPA in the North East region, especially in Manipur, as unwarranted, the Minister also expressed concern that embracing new faith by certain section of the society has not only been gradually diluting the indigenous composition of the Manipur but also posing threat to the traditional and cultural relationship amongst various communities.
Manipur University's Prof Chinglen Maisnam in expressing his views Malem Ningthouja's book asserted that perusal of the book would benefit each and every reader particularly in understanding Manipur's history in context of turmoil besieging the State.
The book release function was also attended by MB college lecturer Dr Th Homen and publisher of Guwahati-based Spectrum Publication Kishan Kumar.
