CM, state officials back with BSUP award

All the concern officials of the state who went to Delhi to receive the Basic Service to Urban Poor city award, including the Chief Minister, O Ibobi were given a warm welcome and felicitated by the staffs of the IMC at a function held at its complex today.
Speaking on the occasion, Geetkumar, Director MAHUD, said that the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) was instituted in the year 2005.It was implemented in Manipur in 2008 and will expire in 2012 .
Recognizing the work implemented by the state government for the construction of houses for the poor people in urban areas under the JNNURM, the Union government has awarded the Basic service to Urban Poor city award to Imphal city.
He further said that the monitoring work for the construction of houses for the urban poor people under JNNURM is taken up by the Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee.
The first installment of 25% of the whole amount for the construction of the houses was paid to the beneficiaries after they themselves have initially started building their house out of their own expenses.
The whole amount will be given out to the beneficiaries in four installments.
The programme report for the ongoing construction of the houses has been submitted to the Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee.
Since the report has been approved by the monitoring committee, the second phase of the installment will be released shortly.
