Glaucoma, Cataract detection camp

Social Warriors Manipur (SWM) held a free Glaucoma and
Cataract detection camp at Ramananda High School, Yairipok
Angtha on the occasion of the 8th World Glaucoma Week, our
correspondent reports.
The camp was held under the joint aegis of the National
Programme for Control of Blindness (NPCB), State Health
Mission and Medical Directorate, Lamphel.
All the cases of Gluacoma and cataract detected at the
camp will be operated at JNIMS hospital free of cost,
NPCB Medical Directorate, Lamphel, State Program Of-
ficer Dr Bidya Devi stated.
NPCB will provide the
necessary medications post surgery for a month to the
patients.
Out of 175 people including children who were exam-
ined at the camp today, 17 were detected with cataract, 7
with Pterygium and 57 others needed Presbyopic correc-
tion.
Integrated Rural Welfare Association (IRWA) former
secretary Kongbam Inaocha Devi and SWM convenor
Keisham Kaminikumar and other members attended the
camp.
