ATUM refutes

The Aimol Tribe Union, Manipur (ATUM) has refuted the allegations of Rt Akhel that S Munthuireng and his party were
expelled from the union and that he and his party are the legitimate staff of ATUM.
In a statement ATUM general secretary R Shialloa has
clarified that S Munthuireng and his party were elected by
the Election Commissioner in the presence of all the village
representatives in March 2014 at Aimol Khunjai village for
the term 2014-17.Rt Akhel and his colleagues, on the other
hand, were appointed by ADC member Chanthoi and some
of his men at Ngairong on June 23, 2015, without the
consent of the Election Commissioner or villagers.
S Munthuireng and colleagues are, therefore the legitimate leaders of the Aimol community and Rt Akhel has no
right to claim the presidentship of ATUM, the general
secretary said in the statement.
