Imphal, November 02 2011:
With school van service remaining ceased following fuel crisis, some of the schools today reportedly declared holiday unofficially.
Talking to Hueiyen Lanpao, Advisor of All Manipur Recognised Private School Welfare Association T Tomba informed that on account of fuel crisis, there was no van service of ferrying students in Standard Roberth, Canchipur; Heritage Convent, Uripok; Blossom Academy, Sainik Foundation, etc.
He pointed that examination is currently going in some schools including STGM Higher Secondary School, Halley English School, HIM Public School, etc.
As the Association had already notified, parents came to pick up and drop their children today.
President of All Manipur School Students' Transporter Association Maibam Lalit informed that the Association has been in the service of ferrying students of 54 schools, but shortage of fuel has created lot of difficulties in carrying on the service.
The Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Department today made arrangement for allotting of fuel to Vans in the service of schools at Bakliwal Enterprises and school vans were compelled to stop the service for today while waiting in queue.
As there was no Van service today, not many students turned up to attend schools today even as some school authorities declared holiday.
