Imphal, September 27, 2009:
The underground United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF) has denied having any relation with the hitherto unfamiliar UKLA (MC) - which claims to be the armed wing of the UKLF.
The UKLF has also said that the claim made by the UKLA (MC) to be the armed wing of the UKLF is a ploy to tarnish the image of the UKLF.
Talking to media persons somewhere in Chandel district today, the assistant information and publicity secretary of the UKLF, DS Guite said his party has strongly denounced the incident of firing of gunshots at the residence of a contractor, Haojakhup Lupho, located at New Lambulane by UKLA (MC) activists on September 17 and the subsequent abduction of the contractor on September 25. Denying having any relation with the UKLA (MC), Guite alleged that the UKLA (MC) is a party formed to create ruckus and their existence is very doubtful.
He said the claim made by the UKLA (MC) that it is the armed wing of the UKLF in extorting money from the people is a strategy to smear the image of the UKLF.
DS Guite also informed the people to be alert over their conduct and movement.
He also urged the people not to extend cooperation to the UKLA (MC) while appealing the people to pass information to the UKLF in case the UKLA (MC) extorts money.
He cautioned the people not to extend cooperation to any outfit that is not included either under the camp of UPF or KNO, who are signatories of the SoO.
It urged all concerned for the elimination of new clan-based organisations like the KNLF (Pakan) and TLA which, according to DS Guite is tarnishing the image of the Kuki community, while asserting that the UKLF is an organisation for the re-unification of the Kukis.
