Imphal, September 27 2009:
The United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF) has given a clarion call for rooting out newly floated insignificant armed groups with the exception of those Kuki UG groups under the UPF/KNO-KNA fold that are signatories to the suspension of operation (SoO) agreement.
speaking to newspersons somewhere in Chandel district today, assistant secretary of UKLF's information and publicity wing DS Guite observed that taking into account unsound economic condition of the Kuki community there is urgent need for cooperation with the Kuki public to prevent surfacing/establishment of more armed groups.
Informing that a clan-centric armed group namely KNLF has been formed with the knowledge and support of the SoO signatory KNO/KNA, Guite also disclosed that surfacing of some other armed groups such as the PAKAN and Taothang Liberation Army (TLA) were also under the patronage of the KNO/KNA.
in dismissing the latter outfits as armed outfits of certain Kuki clans, he expressed remorse that floating of these armed groups and their activities are maligning image of the entire Kuki community.
Highlighting that UKLF strongly believe in the principle of re-unification, Guite called upon the Kuki public not to flinch from their responsibility of ensuring extermination of clan-based armed groups in order to avoid possible chaos.
He also proposed that members of Kuki armed groups that are signatories to the SoO agreement be granted unhindered movement by security personnel.
Guite also conveyed UKLF's strong condemnation against the September 17 night incident at New Lambulane wherein alleged UKLA (MC) members attacked residence of contractor Haojakhup Lupho and an abduction incident on September 25 .
Insisting that UKLA (MC) is an organisation without any specific principle and merely floated to harass the general public, the UKLF functionary also labelled the UKLA (MC) as a virus in the society.
cautioned that UKLA (MC) had been spreading rumour of being the armed wing of the UKLF organisation, he opined that existence of the UKLA (MC) is under the impression that the people could be misled so as to amass personal wealth of the few individuals in the group.
Reiterating that there is no connection between the UKLF and UKLA (MC), he urged the people to remain vigilant in order to thwart devilish design of the fictitious group (UKLA-MC).
