Imphal, September 27, 2009:
Residents of Sanggaiyumpham in Thoubal district today lodged a complaint with the state Chief Minister, O Ibobi denouncing the Assam Rifles' charge against two local youths as members of PULF on September 25. The residents claimed that the two youths are innocent and are not related with any underground group.
They formed a JAC against the abduction and detention of the two youths identified as Md Amir Khan (30), son of Md Azimuddin and Md Azmir Khan (28), son of Md Rajauddin.
Secretary of the JAC, Abir Khan said Amir and Azmir had gone out from their homes to buy materials for making Lu (fishing trap) from Thoubal Bazar on September 25 at about 2 pm.
A man called Sharma, who seems to be a non-local but speaks Meeteilon, called them on the pretext of having a cup of tea together at a hotel.
Then they were picked up by some people in civil dress.
They are innocent persons.
They should be released without any condition within tomorrow.
The government should stop the AR challenging the innocent residents of Sanggaiyumpham.
If they are not released without any condition by tomorrow, the JAC will launch intense form of agitations, the secretary warned.
