Imphal, September 12 2011:
While condemning the attack on three vehicles and beating its occupants by locals at Moidangpok area over a rumour of killing a truck driver by suspected blockade supporters, the Zeliangrong Youth Front (Assam, Manipur & Nagaland) has appealed to the people of the state to shun violence and refrain from spreading rumours which might flare up communal clash and not to believe such rumours in future.
In a press release, ZYF (AMN) stated that the prevailing situation is the outcome of mismanagement of affairs by the government on the issue of Sadar Hills.
The total road blockade earlier and economic blockade which is still enforced on the NHs by the pro Sadar Hills agitators has compelled the people who are anti Sadar Hills to express their opposition regarding the issue, therefore, pursuing the demand of Sadar Hills which is not acceptable to the people is something which is intended to create discord and distrust amongst the various communities, it added.
"The maximum deployment of security personnel and imposition of CrPC 144 on the Zeliangrong areas of NH 37 and letting free the pro SHDDC agitators to burn vehicles in front of security personnel shows the bias of the govt" it alleged.
ZYF appealed to communities leaders to be alert to avert any activities which may lead to communal clashes.
