Vijaya Bank provides loan to self help groups (SHGs) in Heingang

Vijaya Bank has provided loan amount of Rs 1 lakh each to 100 self help groups (SHGs) under Heingang Assembly Constituency to help women in starting small business and generate income.
Informing this during a press conference at Classic Hotel here today, chairman cum managing director of Vijaya Bank SH Upendra Kamath assured that similar loan benefits would also be extended to SHGs in other parts of the State.
Each of the SHGs which have been granted loan from the side of the bank comprises all women members of 15 each.
The sanction letters of the loan amount given to the 100 SHGs under Heingang Assembly Constituency have been reportedly distributed during a function attended by FCI Minister N Biren at Kontha Khabam Laihaopham community hall sometime earlier.
Announcing other plans of the bank, the chairman informed that efforts are being made for opening 100 more branches of Vijaya Bank as well as 250 ATM booths all over the State.
Of these, two to three ATMs and some new branches would be made operational in Imphal very soon.
Arrangements are also being made for shifting of the Saikul branch of the bank to Saikul area itself latest by December, the chairman said, adding that inspection of sites where the new branches would come up would be carried out after the ongoing blockade is over.
