World Champion Boxer Sangita

Imphal, September 12 2011:
The Champion boxer of the just concluded World Police and Fire Games held at New York, USA from August 26th to September 5 Ningthoujam Sangita started her boxing journey from 2002 and won various medals from altogether nine national championships .
She received boxing training at the SAI, SAG Centre of Excellency from 2003 to 2006 under the keen guidance of L Ibomcha who trained a number of world famed boxers.
Born at Awang Sekmai Bazar Mamang Leikai Sangita participated at the first junior women National Boxing Championship held at Gangtok in 2002 October and won the bronze medal.
At the 6th Women Senior National held at Jamshedpur in 2005 December Sangita again won the bronze medal.
She also won one bronze medal at the 9th senior national held at Agra, UP in 2008,Gold medal at the Federation Cup Women Boxing Championship, Erod, Tamil Nadu in 2009 .
Last year at the Inter Zonal National Women Boxing championship held at Thrissur, Kerela, Sangita won a bronze.
She was participated at the last Jharkhand National Games but miss medal.
In March this year at the 59 th All India Police competition Sangita knocked out all her opponents upto the final bout.
In her first ever international exposure She participated at the International Women Boxing tournament held at St Petersburg, Russia in July2009 and won a bronze for the country.
At the recent New York World competition Sangita outpunched a USA boxer 12-6 in the final.
Presently serving in Manipur Police as Constable Sangita is practicing for the senior national being held next month.
