Imphal, October 28 2012:
Have you ever tasted a dish prepared by any international player? If your answer is no, then visit, 'The Rock' stall at the ongoing Chinjak Festival at Palace Compound here, where a joyous team of 13 international and national level players awaits you to serve delicious indigenous foods and drinks.
During a tour around the stalls of Chinjak Festival, Hueiyen Lanpao accidentally met Ashanta (25), an international fencing medalist and the co-partner of 'The Rock' stall.
"We all are sports-persons and for the first time in our lives, we are preparing food and drink items for others," Ashanta of Wangkhei Aheibam Leikai told Hueiyen Lanpao.
Among the 13 sportspersons, two of them are international boxing player and karate player while the rest are international and Asian level fencing players.
According to Ashanta, a festival or exhibition is a place where people come to enjoy the festive ambiance and to dine out to their hearts content.
But the sky rocketing prices of food stuffs have put a damper on the face of the visitors.
"When we visit the 3rd Chinjak Festival last year, we found to our amazement that the prices of all the foods and drinks were exceptionally high.
So, we decided to participate in the festival this time and make available our indigenous food items at affordable prices to the visitors," he added.
Displaying all the food and drink items available in the stall, another co-partner of 'The Rock' said that Nungshi-Cha (made from lemon, mango leaves, honey, mint leaves and hot water) and Ananba Mana (made from Ananba Mana, chives, ngari, prawn), steamed Ngafak, beef, pork and chicken items are special items which are selling like hot cakes in their stall.
