CCpur rallies for safety

With four days to go for the regulation of compulsory helmet rules for two-wheeler riders and pillion riders here, over five hundred two-wheelers on Saturday took the streets here in a drive aimed to spread awareness of helmet for safety driving.
Hundreds of riders thronged the police station ahead of the two-wheeler rally to claim their helmets, which was given to each of the registered participants with payment of Rs 150 .
The principal organizer, an entrepreneur and a social worker, CT Lian told the press that mishaps data in the district which stands at one every couple of days, of which one turn fatal every sixteen days, has prompted him to hold such awareness rally.
Incidentally the district administration had issued an order for enforcing compulsory helmet in the district from November 1, following reports about the high mishap morality rates in the district.
Besides, a one-way traffic has already been enforced.
Saturday's motor rally was organized by the district police in association with some business houses here.
The district Superintendent of Police, L Mangkhogin while formally flagging off the rally, requested the people to support the new traffic regulation as well as to strictly adhere to the compulsory helmet drive for one's own safety.
