Imphal, July 20 2012:
The cease work strike launched by JNIMS/JN Hospital Staff Co-ordination Committee in connection with intimidation of doctors and staffs by some armed security personnel and patient party, suspended from 2 pm today in 'public interest' .
A statement to this effect was released jointly by Prof Ng Indrakumar, Chairman of the Committee and Dr G Angam, Convener.
According to the statement, the emergency services and routine OT shall resume henceforth.
Meanwhile, the police personnel, who are deployed on duty in the Police Picket at JN Hospital, have expressed strong disapproval over the transfer order of 16 security personnel in connection with the alleged intimidation.
Speaking to media persons, the transferred security personnel said that after the Medical Superintendent of JN Hospital and the SP of Imphal East were met together yesterday, the transfer order was served to 1 ASI, 1 Head Constable, 1 female constable, 2 male constables, 8 VDF and 1 Home Guard.
They further informed that since the transfer order has been issued by the government in connection the alleged threatening of doctors and staffs by some armed security personnel and patient party, it will invariably affect their service career and at the same time give a big blow to their reputation.
The doctors and staffs on duty never informed the Police Picket (PP) about the incident.
It was only after two personnel of PP witnessed the incident personally and informed the Control room that the situation could be brought under control, the security personnel asserted.
Though the two personnel were unable to arrest the armed guards, who were security guards of Riyaj Uddin, Reserved Inspector of Imphal East, they (security personnel of PP) helped a lot in bringing the situation under control, they added.
They also expressed amazement over issuing the transfer order of the security personnel of JN Hospital on duty in PP but failing to take up any action against the guilty reserved Inspector and his guards.
