Speaking as Chief Guest, Prof N Iboton, Dean of Central Agriculture University (CAU), said that though the farmers of the state have the required knowledge of ploughing the field, many of them hardly understand what crops to plant and how to preserve them for long after harvesting.
He further stated that farmers in the hill areas of Manipur need to be made aware of planting high yielding crops.
If we need to plant high yielding crops we need to take the advice of experts in this field and take up scientific methods of plantation.
Since the state suffers from lack of electricity, there can be no fast development in the field of industries.
As such the best way to put in our efforts is in the field of developing agriculture.
