Imphal, June 17 2014:
Armed cadres of KCP-MC (Lamyanba Khuman) have reportedly abducted a bus driver of Jet Travels agency plying along Imphal-Guwahati from Murli Hotel at Jakhalabandha in Assam on June 13 at around 11.30 pm.
The abducted driver has been identified as Thokchom Imobi (45) s/o (L) Th Nimai Singh of Khongjom Mamang Leikai.
The registration number of the bus he was driving at the time of the abduction is said to be MN01-1785 and it belongs to one K Jitendra Kumar Singh, living in Guwahati.
Revealing this during a press meet at Manipur Press Club here, Laishram Irabot, secretary of All Manipur Night Super Driver Welfare Association said that the abduction may be related to the yearly tax imposed by the outfit which is around Rs 10, 000-20, 000 per passenger bus plying along Imphal-Guwahati road.

He lamented that the abduction of Imobi has come weeks after five drivers were brutally beaten up by some unidentified persons while they were preparing meals at a bus terminal in Assam.
Taking serious note over the abduction of the innocent driver, he informed that passenger service along Imphal-Guwahati, Shillong and Dimapur will be ceased from June 19 if the abducted driver is not released safely before June 18 evening.
He suspected that the driver was abducted as the outfit fails to communicate with owner of the bus.
