Financial aid sought for Phek bus accident victims

Executive Member of Ukhrul, Autonomous District Council (ADC) has urged the Manipur Government to extend financial aid to all victims of the fatal bus accident that took place in between Nagaland's Phek District and Jessami in Ukhrul District, Manipur on March 13 .
Ukhrul ADC Executive Member Anizote M in a memorandum to Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh on Saturday requested him to provide monetary assistance to all victims of Phek mishap that killed 12 people and injured 21 others.
"Take steps to upgrade Jessami PHC to a community health centre," Anizote urged in the memorandum to the CM.
A single doctor posted at the Jessami PHC stays at Ukhrul headquarter and so he takes time to reach the health centre for emergency, Anozote told Hueiyen Lanpao.

"This health centre should be upgraded to a community health centre," he demanded.
Sources said 15 injured victims of the road mishap are now on their way to Imphal where they will be referred to Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Porompat in Imphal East for further treatment.
They had been undergoing treatment at Phek District Hospital since the accident.
Anizote said the Chief Minister has assured that the matter regarding the Phek accident and the request for financial help to the victims will be discussed at a Cabinet meeting on March 16. Ibobi has reportedly assured all possible help will be given to all the victims, he added.
The Ukhrul ADC Executive Member also thanked the Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam and Deputy Speaker Preshow Shimray for showing ardent interest in helping all the victims.
The ill-fated Nagaland State Transport (NST) bus met with the accident at a place near Phek and the mishap occurred when the bus was on its way to Jessami in Ukhrul district after attending a wedding party in Phek on March 13. Twelve people were killed and 21 others injured in the accident.
The dead have been identified as W Nimuzu, W Ayewetso, W Mawu, W Kewelhipe, W Kwelzope, I Chede, l Khwezotelu, W Weyenilu, W Kekhwezolu, l Kdutelu, l Neizokilu and Wetsotslulu.
The injured are l Leishingam, W Nimupe, Nikhwetsolo, Chewetso, W Edilo, l Nichuru, Welohi, l Kewechuhilo, l Nitsetso, Kevisilie, Nizope Lohe, W Kewekhalo, Candid, Misehitelu, Mudowutsolu, Kewezotelu, Khorozolu, Kewemesulu, Enizotelu and Khrotsopulu Ezohilu.
Six of them are now undergoing treatment in the ICU of Naga Hospital, Kohima.
