Bandh call suspended

The proposed 48 hours inter-State bandh from September 14 called by three tribal apex student bodies has been suspended.
According to a release, the All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM), All Naga Students' Association Manipur (ANSAM) and Kuki Students' Organisation General Headquarters (KSO-GHQ) had a meeting with the State Government represented by Education Minister Radheshyam Singh and Forest & Environment Minister Awangbou Newmai today at SSA Conference Hall, Imphal at 2 pm and discussed their 'Charter of Demands' at length for around 3 hours.
"After thorough discussion, it is noted that there are progress in some issues and a complete fulfilment of the Charter of Demands would require further discussion.
As such it is agreed upon that the concerned departments would examine and process the issue immediately.
It is also mutually agreed that the next round of meeting in the presence of the Chief Minister would be held on or before September 25," it said.
"As such, the three tribal apex student bodies have suspended the proposed 48 hours inter-State bandh," it added.
