Imphal, August 03 2019:
A 9-year-old girl's tears for felling trees she had planted when she was studying in Class-I has won hearts of many on Facebook.
In a video that has been shared more than 2,000 times on Facebook, Valentina Elangbam is seen wiping her tears off continuously as she complains the felling of the trees to her uncle.
She is heard saying she will now plant 20 new tree saplings.
Valentina had planted two Gulmohar saplings when she was about 5/6 years old near her residence at Hiyanglam Makha Leikai.

This morning when she returned from school, she saw the trees cut to the ground.
She immediately burst into tears, said her uncle, Monen Elangbam, speaking to The Sangai Express .
Valentina, a Class V student of Amutombi Divine Life English School, Wabagai, is eldest of three children of Elangbam Premkumar and Elangbam Ongbi Saya of Hiyanglam Makha Leikai, Kakching district.
The trees were cut down due to reconstruction and renovation work of the Maramba Maril (canal) near her residence, said her uncle.
The tree girl said that she cried because she was 'sad' .
The trees were taller than she is, said Valentina crying over the phone.
"I will now plant 20 trees...
more than 20 trees," said an emotional Valentina who is conscious about environment and has care for the trees she had planted years ago.
Meanwhile, many well wishers from Facebook, police officers including SP Victoria and forest personnel have showered the girl with sweet and loving messages on Facebook and in person.
Many have visited the girl and gifted her saplings.
One local social worker, E Ratankumar and well wisher E Ramesh alongwith members of Unique Wildlife Protection Committee were first to visit with 50 saplings to console her.
They planted a few saplings near her residence, said her uncle.
The locals have also decided to plant around 500 saplings, he added.
Even though the saplings she gets will not be able to replace the sentimental values she had attached to the trees that were fell, The Sangai Express hopes she plants more trees in future and become an advocate for environmental conservation.
