Border to be sealed over missing of two Punjabis

Imphal, February 17 2014:
A public meeting organised by Border Trade & Chamber of Commerce, Moreh yesterday at the conference hall of Tamil Sangam in connection with the missing of two Punjabis namely Sanvendar Singh (30) alias Jacky and Daljeet Singh (33) who have remained traceless after they went inside Tamu to sell school uniforms and other accessories on February 11, has given deadline upto 3 pm tomorrow to the authorities concerned for finding out the whereabouts of the two missing men.
Attended by leaders of various social organisations based in Moreh, the meeting decided to seal the border with Myanmar from 6 pm tomorrow and launch intense agitations if the Indian and Myanmarese authorities failed to locate the whereabouts of the two missing Punjabis before 3 pm.
On February 17, SI Chitranjan Singh, Indian Immigration Officer-in-Charge and O Doren Singh, OC of Moreh Police Stattion along with several community leaders went to meet the DC of Tamu town.
However, they could only meet ADC Tamu as the DC was not present.
The ADC after holding meeting with chairmen of different villages of Tamu had given assurance of providing details of whereabouts of the two missing men.
The ADC also requested the team to meet him again on February 18 for further discussion.
But so far, whereabouts of the two missing men still remained unknown.
