Argument hearing ofthe election petition case filed against Parliamentary Secretary (YAS and Tourism) and Moirang A/C MLA M Prithviraj was held before the Single Bench of Justice N Kotiswar of High Court of Manipur for the third consecutive day today.
Respondent's counsel submitted its argument during today's hearing.
Petitioner's counsel would respond to this argument tomorrow.
After closing of witness depositions on February 19, the Single Bench commenced argument hearings on February 22.It may be mentioned that the election petition case was filed by retired IAS P Saratchandra in 2012 against M Prithviraj who was elected on Congress ticket from Moirang AC.
The election petition alleged that the MLA submitted a fake educational certificate to the Returning Officer by wrongfully mentioning his educational qualification in the election affidavit filed for the State Assembly election.
The election petition alleged that M Prithviraj mentioned that he is an MBA Degree holder of Mysore University in his election affidavits of the by-election held in 2009 and State Assembly election held in 2012 .
It was also complained in the petition that the official website of the State Legislative Assembly is till showing M Prithviraj's educational qualification as MBA (Human Resource).
It may also be mentioned that P Saratchandra filed a special leave petition in the Supreme Court after the case was adjourned in the High Court of Manipur for long time.
The apex Court issued a notice to M Prithviraj returnable within four weeks last year and also directed the High Court of Manipur to dispose the election petition case before February this year.
