Jiribam, February 24 2016:
The Jiribam District Demand Committee (JDDC), Jiribam has resolved to impose a total bandh in Jiribam starting February 26 midnight till February 28 midnight.
In a statement, JDDC, Jiribam convenor W Dinesh Meetei said that the State Government's silence over the demand of making Jiribam a full-fledged revenue district is lamentable.
JDDC has resorted to various forms of democratic agitation but the State Government has failed to give any decisive response.
Therefore, it can be presumed that the State Government has no intention of considering the demand ofthe people until undemocratic agitation is launched.
It is very unfortunate that the local MLA has also neglected the demand of Jiribam people, he said.
JDDC and the people of Jiribam would intensify the agitation during the 48-hour total bandh across Jiribam.
However, religious activities, exams and medical emergencies would be exempt.
