'Do not give bank details to unknown callers'

Taking cognizance of the presence of cyber crimes of various forms in the State, ChiefSecretary, O Nabakishore has urged all concerned not to give out any personal bank details to unknown persons through mobile phones.
Addressing media persons today at the conference hall of Old Secretariat, the Chief Secretary said that the State is yet to have expertise or machineries to tackle such cyber crimes.
Although there is no expertise or machineries to tackle cyber crimes, a cyber crime unit has been opened in Imphal West district police to monitor cyber crimes, he said while adding that steps will be initiated to bring in experts and requisite machineries.
The Chief Secretary said
that a hacker had withdrawn an amount of Rs 24,499 from the account of one Yengkhom Rabichandra after getting details through phone yesterday.
He added that he was also a victim of cyber crime.
Speaking at the occasion, SP of Imphal West, Dr Ak Jhaljit said that the phone calls in the cyber crimes in the State have been tracked to Jharkhand.
Jharkhand police were informed about the matter and they were urged to help in tracing the criminals.
Later, it was established that the crimes were carried out from the deep jungle ofJharkhand.
So far 133 FIR and GD cases have been registered with the Cyber Crime unit ofImphal West district police, Jhaljit said while adding that 30 ofthe cases have been successfully disposed.
