Judgment on Irom Sharmila reserved

Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West today reserved the judgment of suicide attempt accusations levelled against Irom Chanu Sharmila till February 29 .
Sharmila has been charged under 309 IPC (attempt to commit suicide) after she staged an indefinite hunger strike demanding repeal of AFSPA.
The Court reserved the judgment during the final hearing of the case today.
Sharmila was produced before Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West Lamkhanpau Tonsing under Cril ( P) case number 129 of2015 with reference FIR number 12 (1) 2015 of City police station under 309 ofIPC.
Speaking to reporters, Sharmila said that she felt disheartened as she has not seen necessary public support on the important day of the case although she has been continuing movement for the people.
Sharmila said that she has a desire to continue her stir in front of 'Kanglasha' after her release from the judicial custody.
She requested the civil society organisations to take part in her stir and pray together with her to achieve her goal.
Saying that killings would not bring any solution and peace, Sharmila questioned why the State Government would not be able to maintain law and order without AFSPA.
Stating that terming her movement as unconstitutional and anti-social is unfortunate, Sharmila said that she has been fighting for the rights of the people.
She also questioned why the authority has been maintaining silence although Th Herojit has confessed that he killed Chungkham Sanjit.
