Imphal, July 23 2012:
Out of the total 26 Councilors of Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council (SH-ADC), 14 of them, who have revolted against the leadership of Chairman Haokholet Hangshing, have voiced for replacement by another Chairman.
Informing about this common stand of the 14 councilors to media at Grace Bhawan, Motbung, Councilor Thangjamang Kipgen said that the councilors have pressed the Congress High Command to put an end to the present chaotic situation prevailing in the SH-ADC by appointing a new Chairman apart from the present Chairman Haokholet Hangshing or ex-Chairman Sh Seipu.
Alleging that Congress itself is playing divide and rule tactics among its Councilor and creating the present chaotic condition, Thangjamang demanded that the suspension order of the three Congress councilors and another one should be revoked and a new Chairman should be appointed before conducting the Floor test.
He further demanded that the President of District Congress Committee (DCC), Sadar Hills, Thangkum Misao; leader of Saitu Block Congress Committee, Ph Mazaring and President of Kangpokpi DCC, Tonglan Hangshing who have been spreading rumors should also be expelled.
He maintained that if at all the Congress in Sadar Hills is to be strengthened; the suspended and expelled members should be reinstated.
Councilor Paojalet Touthang, who was also present during the press conference, said that the suspension and expulsion of Congress members under the instigation of Chairman Haokholet Hangshing was really unfortunate and it will never bring goodness in future.
