Twin statues of Akaba and Suisa to have erected to spread message of Love, Peace and Fraternity among hill-valley people

The 8th Death Anniversary of Chingsubam Akaba was observed jointly by Meetei National Front (MNF) and Meetei Erol Eyak Loinasillon Apunba Lup (MEELAL) today at Wakha Leimaching in Imphal East district.
The observance function was attended by Leishemba Sanajaoba, titular king of Manipur as Chief Guest; Sadokpam Tomba Mangang, president of MEELAL and Golmei Makuching Kabui, secretary of MNF as Presidium Members while RV Mingthing, former Minister and Pheiroijam Rajendra, Trustee Member of LUCANIL and Deputy Director of Agriculture Department, Government of Manipur as Guests of Honour.
The function started with offering of floral tributes to the photograph of the late leader and it was followed by observation of two minutes silence and rendition of patriotic song as mark of respect to the departed soul.
Delivering key note address, Moirangthem Naokhamba Meetei, convenor of Chingsubam Akaba Ningsing Thourang Lup stated that Chingsubam Akaba was born to a poor family on November 9, 1944 at Khurai Soibam Leikai.
Akaka spent most of his early days in the hills as a worker and he was once engaged in drain construction at Phungyar in Ukhrul district.
It was due to the relentless initiatives taken up by Akaba that the original Meetei Mayek script has been revived and regained its lost glory status, Naokhamba said, adding that Akaba had always wanted unity and peaceful co-existence amongst the valley and hills people.
Informing that statues of R Suisa, late Naga leader and Chingsubam Akaba, under the name of 'Twin Statues of Love, Peace and Fraternity' will be erected under the joint initiative of R Suisa Trust and Luchingpurel Chingsubam Akaba Ningsing Lup (LUCANIL), Naokhamba went on to say that one of the twin statues will be erected at Kulla Kaphung (Mount of Mirror), Hongmahn village in Senapati district where the mortal remains of R Suisa were laid to laid on coming April 17 to mark the death anniversary of the late leader.
Statues of the two leaders would also be erected at different parts of the valley, he announced.
As part of the observance, Luchingpurel Chingsubam Akaba Memorial Award which carries a cash prize of Rs 10,000, memento along with shawl was presented to Pichum Anal and Tokpam Thawailamba.
Artax A Shimray, president of Tangkhul Nagalong (TNL); Dr Ngohorshai Luithui, chairman of R Suisa Trust; Mathankhui Zimik, vice-president of Tangkhul Naga Wungnaolong; Namoijam Tomba, executive editor of Pandam; Saikhom Nodia Mangang, president of KIMACS and Anwari Nur Jahan, president of United Manipur Muslim Women Development Organization were also present during the observance function as Special Invitees.
