Imphal, December 09 2013:
While Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) President Gaikhangam has defended the Congress defeat in assembly polls in Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh in the hands of the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), saying it does not mean that the party has gone down, Manipur unit of BJP president Th Chaoba has stated that his party's victory with absolute majority in the four states has clearly indicated that it would also sweep the next Lok Sabha polls due next year.
Expressing deep concern over massive failure of the Indian National Congress (INC) at the State Assembly Elections of Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, MPCC President Gaikhangam who is also the Deputy Chief Minister, said that the Party needs to look thoroughly into factors that have led to such failure but added that the defeat of Congress in these elections cannot be assumed that the party has gone down.
He was replying to the queries of media persons at Congress Bhavan here today.
Gaikhangam asserted that the landslide victory of Congress Party in Mizoram, after having defeated in other four States, is a testimony of the NE being a stronghold of Congress.
The Party would shine forever in the northeastern states, he contended.
He also expressed optimism that the Congress Party would perform its best in the coming Lok Sabha Election with good lessons learnt from the failure in State Assembly Elections.
On being asked about MPP Vice-President Manisana's murder, Gaikhangam, who is also in-charge of the Home Department, further said that the Police Department is working on the case with utmost seriousness and dedication.
The culprits would soon be arrested and punished according to the law, he added.
On the other hand, Chaoba has stated that the humiliating defeat of Congress party in the Assembly elections 2014 is due to the scam, corruption and price rice which have pushed the people of the country to reel under intense hardships.
Speaking to media persons, Chaoba said that with the defeat of Congress in Delhi Assembly election, it is now crystal clear that the end of the party has come.
He also appreciated the public of the four States for restoring their faith on BJP party in the just concluded assembly elections.
Chaoba asserted tat after the Parliament Election 2014, there will be BJP rule in the centre and exuded confidence that the party will also win in the Manipur Parliamentary Election 2014 .
Maintaining that people have lost faith in Congress party as it indulges in corruption and scam and failed to curb the ever increasing price rise of essential commodities, Chaoba alleged that the Congress government in the State has been swindling huge amount of fund sanctioned by the Central Government for the development of the State.
The people of Manipur are well aware that the present government has failed to bring about development and maintain law and order in the State.
So, I hope the public will also teach a befitting lesson to Congress party in the next Lok Sabha elections.
