Imphal, April 06 2011:
A hand grenade lobbed by unidentified armed persons exploded at the residential compound of the son-in-law of Social Welfare and Minor Irrigation Minister N Loken last night.
The explosion took place at the Leimapokpam Awang Leikai residential compound of Oinam Inaoba, who is the son-in-law of Minister Loken.
A dog was reportedly wounded in the explosion apart from damaging the glasses of the operator's cabin of an excavator stationed nearby.
Some portion of the walls of an outhouse and its CI sheet roofing also suffered damages in the explosion.
In protest against the incident, a Wakat Meepham was staged by the local Meira Paibis at Leimapokpam today.Meanwhile, another hand grenade was found lying near the gate of RDO, Lamshang at around 6 am today.

Bomb experts of the State Police Department retrieved the bomb and later safely detonated it.
On the other hand, a similar protest demonstration was also staged at by the local people of Haobam Marak Chingtham Leikai today decrying the yesterday afternoon's incident of hurling a hand grenade by unidentified armed persons at the residence of RK Chittaranjan, who is an Inspector in Taxation Department.
