Imphal, October 03 2014 :
'The Kuki Students' Organisation, Delhi (KSOD) has congratulated MC Mary Kom for winning a gold-medal at the Asian Games in South Korea.
Her team-mate Sarita Devi lost out due to "unfair" decisions during her bout, said a press release issued by the KSOD.
The two boxers were pre-Mary Kom with the Gold medal sented bouquets and Thadou-Kuki traditional shawls 'saipikhup' at an informal reception at IGI International Airport, New Delhi.
While congratulating the mother-of-three, KSOD christened 31-year old Mary Kom 'Tahchanu Mary' for her unprecedented feats at international competitions.
"We are really proud of Pi MC Mary Kom.
She's a mother, an idol and a fighter.
She went to the game as a hero, and returned home as a 'shero'.
She deserves more than what she's got.
"We respect the support of her husband Pu Onler Kom.
'Tahchanu Mary' is in our hearts and will always be." KSOD stated.
KSOD also extended solidarity to Sarita Devi Laishram who was denied by the judges in spite of her performance.
"Sarita appeared to be a clear winner in the bout, dominating the proceedings with such ferocity that Park barely managed to stand the assault.
But much to the shock of the Indian contingent and the spectators, the judges awarded the bout to Park.
We feeling cheated and discriminated.
We are with Sarita Devi and she deserves a lot more," said KSOD.
KSOD further slammed the Indian sports administrators for the lack of support when she (Sarita) needed it the most.
KSOD expressed its shock when there were no officials from the authorities concerned to receive her at the airport.
No cab was arranged for her, so KSOD executives and members took the responsibility of dropping her till her lodge.
KSOD also urged the State Government to act upon the 'injustice' meted out to Sarita as it could discourage her sportsmanship in particular and others in general.
