Imphal, October 01 2016:
Asking the Government to cor-rectthe flaws atthe grass root of the education system, the Manipuri Students'Federation (MSF) today stated that basic education is the foundation and there is no reason why the Government should neglect this crucial phase of education.
In a statement issued to the press today, the student body said that it is appalled to see the manner in which primary, upper primary and junior high schools are being run and managed these days.
Instead of directly getting involved in running these schools, the authority is more concerned with how to misuse the funds released to them.
Ministers and the MLAs have been playing the favouritism game, alleged MSF and added that it is an eye sore to see the dirt and slush in all the schools.
The funds released under SSA/RMSA are misused by the local MLAs and their supporters and instead of building class rooms at the designated schools, they are built elsewhere, said MSF.
All the shortcomings have been pointed out to the authority concerned of the Education Department, said MSF and added that the local MLAs have been mistreating the officials of the Education Department for their own political gains.
This is why honest and sincere officials are being frequently transferred, said MSF and added that all these factors taken together are responsible for the rot in the education system, particularly at the grass root level.
The deliberate mismanagement of the education system at the grass root level is the prime reason for many parents to opt for private schools and this has drained many parents as 80 pc of the people in Manipur are poor.
Asking all to stick to rules and regulations, MSF said that it is the duty of the Education Minister to honestly work to improve the education system in the Government schools.
The Chief Minister and the Home Minister too should also issue the right directives for all to follow, said MSF.
