NIELIT celebrates 28th foundation day

The 28th foundation day of National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) was held at NIELIT Imphal with Chief Secretary O Nabakishore Singh , AK Pipal, Director and HoD of HRD Division and Th Prameshwor Singh, Executive Director as the chief guest, guest of honour and president respectively.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Secretary congratulated NIELIT Imphal for producing a number of PGDCA, BCA.MCA & Diploma holders'among 'others.
He welcomed all the alumni of NIELIT Imphal for attending the first of its kind celebration at Imphal.
He also appreciated the new courses offered in NIELIT Imphal, especially IT & Electronics.
He informed that the State Govt had a target of installing 5 megawatt rooftop solar plants, compared to the 1 megawatt target for the whole country, along with assurances of assistance from the State Govt.Prameshwor Singh, Executive Director of NIELIT Imphal, thanked all the alumni for their attendance, via Skype or in person, and expressed his pleasure in creating the opportunity to share information.
The guest of honour in his speech highlighted the inception of the then CEDT and gave a detailed history of the Centre chronologically, and added that new Centres are to be set up accross the country to cater to the rising demand for such courses.
In his speech, he expressed happiness at being associated with NIELIT, as overall coordinator for NIELIT at New Delhi.
He highlighted how the Govt has been supporting the 35 NIELIT Centres, half of which are in the North East, financially, and will continue to do so.
The function saw position holders of every course being honoured with cash awards and a certificate by the Chief Secretary.
More than 500 people attended the event, said a statement.
