Guv highlights importance of human resources

Governor Dr Najma A Heptulla has highlighted the importance of human resources development and education for rapid progress of a country.
The Governor was speaking at the presentation of Governor's Award 2016 and Rajkumari Sanatombi Devi Award 2016 and prize distribution which was held today at Asha-Jina
complex here under the aegis of the Managing Committee of Rajkumar Sanatombi Devi Vidyalaya, Haotal (Pangei).
Dr Najma Heptulla who graced the function as chief guest said that human resource development is vital to a Nation's strength, progress and prosperity and education is one of the key elements.
The main purpose of education is to inculcate the ability to think and apply the knowledge in solving social problems.
The responsibility of imparting knowledge and education rests with teachers who are considered to be moral guardians, friends, philosophers and guides in moulding the character of students so that they are able to play a meaningful and definitive role in the Nation's future.
The Governor further said that education should not only focus on access to global knowledge, but should also uphold the richness of culture and values, supported by the time honoured and eternal discipline.
Education should stimulate all aspects of human intellectual potential as well as impart core values needed to live as responsible citizens in the democratic society.
The present education system has been producing a large number of students who are not employable resulting in severe wastage of time, energy and money.
As such, there is an urgent need to link education with employment since education holds the solution to the many ills of the society, asserted the Governor.
The Governor then congratulated the State for not having dowry system.
Chief Minister O Ibobi said that development of human resources is one of the priority of the State Government.
Development of human resources would lead to development in all other fields.
Government and private educational institutions should compete to produce good and excellent students.
MP Dr Thokchom Meinya too spoke at the gathering.
Thingujam Jeena of RK.Sanatombi Devi Vidyalaya, Haotel Pangei was awarded the Governor's Award, 2016 and the RK Sanatombi Devi Awards 2016 were awarded in the field of Education, Sports, Physically Challenge and Traffic Police.
