Training prog begins

Churachandpur, August 22 2017:
A three day programme on ‘Improved Production Technology of Pineapple and Khasi Mandarian from August 22-24, 2016’ was inaugurated by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Churachandpur at the training hall of KVK, Churachandpur under ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Imphal today .
Assistant Commissioner as well as DC, Churachandpur Thenlaljoy Gangte, senior Scientist and head of KVK, Churachandpur Dr Niranjan Lal, District Agriculture officer I Radhacharan Singh, ex-member of Board of Directors , National Horticulture Board LB Sinate attended the inaugural function as dignitaries .
Speaking at the event, Scientist of ICAR Manipur Dr SS Roy highlighted the NEC funded project on Integrated horticulture including fisheries for NEH region .
Thenlaljoy appealed the farmers of Churachandpur district to take guidance from KVK for increasing the productivity of agriculture and horticulture crops .
I Radhacharan urged the farmers to try their hands on fruit crops to enhance their economy and livelihood and also to reduce Jhum cultivation .
Dr PK Swarasat said that such type of capacity building programme is crucial to reduce the gap between the farmers and the experts .
A total of 60 farmers of Churachandpur district attended the training programme .
A lecture demonstration on different aspects, issues and problems faced by mandarian and pineapple growers of Churachandpur will be delivered by SMS Horticulture Dr RK Roshan, farm manager L Basil, SMS Home Science Dr S Roma Devi and ATM ATMA W Nupendra Singh on the following days of the training.
