Govt compensates, body claimed

A 30-year-old youth whose body remained unclaimed at hospital mortuary for the past four weeks after he was killed over an alleged burglary case will now be buried tomorrow with the Government paying a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the family .
The decision was announce today by the JAC Against the Killing of Thangkhanlun after the Government gave the compensation to the family.
The JAC will also stand dissolved with the burial, they said .
The body lay unclaimed for weeks as the JAC demanded the arrest of one Romeo – ZRA's then town commander, who by now have been declared an absconder and wanted by the police – and compensation along with a job for the next of kin .
In an unrelated incident, a 40 year-old man who hit a stationary truck while fleeing in a stolen bicycle succumbed last night at about 10.30 .
Kamminlian, a resident of New Lamka was allegedly caught looting Chingtam Hotel located near the district hospital on Sunday morning at about 4.30.Later, it is said that he was allowed to walk free but on his way out he again stole a bicycle and sped away with it only to hit a truck, suffering grave injuries .
The truck owner had reportedly paid a compensation of Rs 1.5 lakh to the family.
