Haj body appeals

The Manipur State Haj Committee has appealed to all concerned not to pose any hindrance to those people who are going for the annual pilgrimage to Mecca.
Speaking to media persons at MOBEDS office today, Manipur State Haj Committee executive officer Md Salauddin Khan said that due preparations for the annual pilgrimage is almost complete.
Altogether 335 people from Manipur would be going to Mecca this year.
Out of them, 179 pilgrims would leave Imphal for Guwahati on August 19.Some other pilgrims would leave Imphal tomorrow.
As for 30 pilgrims, their departure schedule has not been fixed.
The State Haj Committee cannot change the travel schedule as it was fixed by the Haj Committee of India.
The pilgrims would bear their own travel expenditures till Guwahati.
Travel expenditures from Guwahati till Mecca would be borne by the committee, Salauddin Khan said.
He then appealed to all the people who have been undertaking different forms of protest agitation for enforcement of ILPS or similar mechanism to give free passage to the pilgrims.
He also urged all pilgrims as well as their relatives and friends who go to see off the pilgrims to use banners indicating Haj pilgrimage on their vehicles.
A team of Manipur State Haj Committee would station themselves at Guwahati to assist all the pilgrims from Manipur until they leave Guwahati for Mecca, Salauddin added.
