Re-poll ends on a peaceful note

Imphal, September 15 2012:
For the Panchayat election held on September 13, re-poll was held today at eight polling stations spread across Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal and Bishnupur districts without any disturbances.
It is reported that the poll percentage reached 88 to 97 per cent.
Re-poll was done at these polling stations following electoral malpractices like booth capturing and destruction of polling materials on the day of election.
Polling personnel who conducted the re-poll have reached their respective district head-quarters.
Counting of votes would begin from 8 am of September 17 at all the valley district head-quarters including Jiribam sub-division.
In Imphal East district, counting of the 4th Panchayat Election would be conducted in two halls of the district's Deputy Commissioner's office campus and one in DIC office.
While Hall No I and II of Imphal East Panchayat Bhavan have been reserved to count votes held under Returning Officers of Porompat and Keirao Bitra, the counting for RO Sawombung would be taken up at the Training Hall of DIC .
For Imphal West and Bishnupur districts too, three counting halls each would be utilised at the DC office and Mini Secretariat campuses respectively.
The Imphal West halls would be for election conducted under ROs of Lamshang, Wangoi and Patsoi while elections in Bishnupur district wards were conducted under ROs of Ningthoukhong, Bishnupur and Nambol.
Regarding Thoubal district, only two halls of the DC office complex would be utilised for counting of votes held under the ROs of Thoubal, Kakching and Lilong.
