Public emergency announced

Intensifying its agitation over the demand for re-introduction of Inner Line Permit (ILP) system in the state, the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System has announced a 24-hour public curfew from midnight today and get ready for launching more intense agitations if the government failed to adopt a resolution on ILP issue by tomorrow.
Tomorrow is the last day of the Assembly session.
Addressing a press meet in this regard somewhere in Imphal East today, Convener of the Joint Committee, Sapamcha Jadumani said that the decision to announce public emergency was taken to exert more pressure on the government as well as the Members of the Assembly.
He appealed to the people to stay alert and prepare for any steps or agitation to be launched by the Committee.

Jadumani said that with the support and co-operation of the people, the Committee would stop construction work on railway line, restrict entry of non Manipuris in the state and adopt implementation of ILP system from July 14 if the Chief Minister and the other 59 MLAs failed to adopt a resolution on ILP in tomorrow's Assembly sitting.
If any of the MLA rejects is oppose to the idea of adopting a resolution on ILP system, then they should be regarded as public enemy, Jadumani categorically stated, while calling upon the people for awarding befitting punishment against such MLAs.
He also urged the drivers of inter-state goods trucks, passenger vehicles to refrain from bringing in non Manipuris into the state.
If any driver is found bringing in non Manipuris in his vehicle, he should be responsible for any consequences, Jadumani warned, and appealed to the Non Manipuris outside the state not to come until a resolution on re-implementation of ILP system is adopted.
Jadumani also slammed the government and the state police for their inhuman act in chaining of FREINDS Advisor KB Sharma, who is on an indefinite fast demanding re-introduction of ILP system in the state and observed that chaining of KB Sharma is an inhuman act and it shows the outlook of Manipur government towards a democratic protestor.
