Imphal, June 05 2018: Fate of the students of the Manipur University is at stake with the agitator students stand firm to their demand for replacement of the Vice Chancellor Prof.AP Pandey.

The students today locked the main gate as well as the Physics department without allowing anybody to enter or leave the campus.

Imphal Times reporter who went for news coverage too have to stuck inside the campus.

Genesis of the uproar of the students: Since Prof.AP Pandey assumed the office of the Vice Chancellor in October 26, 2016, he hardly stayed at the University for even 10 days in a month.

Most of his times are spent outside the state by taking leave.

Imphal Times yesterday produced a leave letter by the VC which mentioned the date at which he would take leave but leave blank - the column which he have to return.

The modus operandi is simple - the Prof.can return any time at the University.

Due to his absence from the University - there are lot of pending works which may sabotage the fate of the Manipur University students.

"As many as 300 certificate have not been issued to the students which were supposed to be provided before June", a research scholar said while talking to this reporter.

He added that the closure of the VC's office room on May 30, 2018 was not a pre planed, but it was rather the anger of the students who went to meet the VC.

"Like other days the VC was not present in his room and we were told that he is out of station, as we could no longer tolerate such thing as it become a normal affair which we felt that we are harassed many times we pour our anger and lock the VC office", the research scholar added.

More over that very same day we witnessed MLA Suchindro (Yaima), Prof.Arun Saxena, the right hand man of the VC, Dy.

Registrar R.Jotin and two contractors holding meeting at the room of the Registrar -in-charge, Shyamkishore, at the Administrative Block of the Manipur University.

"We have been hearing about MLAs , contractors and other near and dear one of the VC having secrete meeting at the office of either the Registrar or the VC if he happened to be present in his station, but that was the first time that we saw with our own eyes", he added.

The infuriated students while asking them the reason for their gathering drive them out of the complex, later the intensity of the students anger rise and finally all associate members of the Manipur University Students' Union (MUSU) hold a meeting together and took a decision to go ahead with their demand until the VC Pandey is replaced.

"No matter who comes - be him a none local or local, we only want a responsible Vice Chancellor who can take good care of the student community of the Manipur University", a student leader said while asking if the issue is related with the ongoing issue of ILPS.
